Trailer Wiring Harness for a 2011 Toyota Tacoma Access Cab
Question:
How do I know if my 2011 Toyota Tacoma access cab, 4 cylinder has a factory installed 7 way trailer connector, and if so, where is it located?

The definitive way to determine if a vehicle has a factory tow package or any other options is to have a dealer run the VIN number. Although if there is no 7-Way connector at the back of the truck, you most likely do not have a factory tow package.
To install trailer wiring, you would need to use the custom fit vehicle wiring, # 118496. I have included links to the installation instructions and a video showing a typical installation. If you then wanted to add a 7-Way trailer connector, you would need # ETBC7. I have included some links on this installation as well.
If a trailer you want to tow has electric brakes, then in addition to the 7-Way you would also need a brake controller. The most popular option is the Tekonsha P2, # 90885, because it is easy to set up and use.
