Video Transcript for Swagman Replacement Titan and Trailhead Bike Rack Cradles Review

Colin: Hey, guys. It's Colin here at etrailer. Today, we're going to take a quick look at some replacement cradles and straps for this Swagman Trailhead and Titan Bike Racks. Now, in this kit, you're going to get a quantity of 8 cradles and 16 straps, and that's going to be more than enough to cover either the two or four bike versions of those bike racks. Now, these cradles and straps are going to be direct replacements for the cradles and straps that come with your bike rack. You know, over time the rubber and plastic components will wear down, whether it's due to everyday use, could be the sun beaming down on them, or even just temperature changes throughout the year. Just over time eventually, they will wear down.

That's just something you're going to get with any bike rack. So, this is just a nice way to get more years of use out of your bike rack without actually having to get a new one.So, you can see we have our brand new Trailhead set up on our vehicle, and the cradle and the straps just match directly. You're not going to have to worry about making any adjustments. Another replacement part that can keep your Trailhead going for a lot longer is going to be the snapper pin. If for some reason, maybe the pin broke or maybe the clip broke, or even just maybe the wire right here to where you have to hold the pin while you're putting the arms down or tilting it away, we do sell these replacement pins here at etrailer. Now, we've heard from some of our customers and they just really enjoy that this is a very inexpensive way to keep your bike rack going for a longer period of time, as opposed to having to buy a whole new rack.

Now, however, some of them did say that it was a little bit challenging to get the cradles on to the rack. With being said, some of them said that they just put a little bit of baby oil or some lubricant on there and it just slid right on.Now we'll go and show you how we got it on as well though. So, now we have the new cradle ready to go on. It's going to have the same exact dimensions as the old cradles. It's literally just going to be a direct replacement.

So, we've removed the Allen bolt that was on the bottom. We'll go ahead and just wiggle its way on until we have it in a spot we want. Now, we'll just reinstall the small Allen bolt right there, which is basically at stopper to make sure that our cradle cannot be pulled off without it off. Then we can get our straps in place. Really it's just personal preference wherever you want them.

In our case, our bike is going to be positioned to where we need the anti-sway cradle on this side. So, we're just going to put both of these up top. Then we'll just connect them on the other side as well. Again it's just going to be a great way to make sure that your bike rack lasts a lot longer.Thank you all for watching. That's going to do it for our look at the Replacement Cradles and Straps for the Swagman Trailhead and Titan Bike Racks. Hope this helped.

When I first saw these cradles, they looked right, but I wasn't sure. I knew the make but not the model of my bike rack. On a weekend I emailed the company. On Monday I called. Telephone service not helpful, but response to email clear and helpful. I ordered. Didn't take long to arrive. Perfect replacement cradles.

The replacement Anti-sway cradles and straps fit well, as expected. Although the anti-sway cradles have a faulty design (the pegs that hold the straps break off after a season or two of use), the replacement parts were satisfactory. The three star rating is due to the short design life of the cradle pegs.

Purchased a used swagman bike mount and hadn't noticed all the cradle hooks were broken. Glad I was able to purchase a complete replacement set here. Used a bit of baby oil to help install these new ones on the bars as they were a very tight fit and wouldn't have been possible to dry install these.

Good, sturdy product. Reasonable price. Fit our old 4-bike hitch-mounted rack perfectly. So thankful we could keep going for less than $40. Sure beat buying a whole new rack!!

I've had my Swagman hitch rack for several years and frequently used cradles and straps have started to crack, so this provides the parts needed to replace them. Note that none of them have broken despite using the rack hundreds of times over the years. Love the Swagman Trailhead 2 rack, which I got from eTrailer.

The product seems great very strong and sturdy. Would of loved to have the diameter of the hole that to rack tube goes through in the description. I had to guess but I lucked out.

by:

Great straps, very versatile
