What Causes Oblong Hitch Pin Hole On Equal-i-zer WDH
Question:
Hi, I have a this weight distribution system on my 2004 Ford F-150 and I pull a 26 foot camper with it. I have had this system the last 8 years and it is set up correctly for my application. My questions are: 1. I have noticed some slotting of the hole in the receiver towards the front of the truck, which is the one I use all the time, where the pin goes into the receiver. Im not sure what is causing this or if its a problem. 2. My receiver is factory installed for my truck and is a class V with WD of 9,950lbs and a tongue weight of 900lbs. My camper weighs 8000lbs loaded. There are two 5/8inch holes in my receiver for the pin to go through, and they are 2inch apart. I have been using the one towards the front of the truck. I cant find any information as to why there are two 5/8 pin holes in my receiver or which one I should use or if it even would make a difference. If I use the hole that would be closest to the trailer when connected, will that change any of my adjustments or add more tongue weight. The holes are only two inches apart so I dont know if it would change anything or not. Thanks,

If you are having issues with the hitch pin hole becoming oblong on the shank for the Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System part # EQ37100ET then you need to make sure the hitch pin hole on your trailer hitch is not also oblong as this would then cause that on the shank as well. If so then it will need to be replaced but your only option for this is a factory trailer hitch. The Equal-i-zer Weight Dist Shank part # EQ90-02-4100 will be needed as well if you have damage on the one you have now. In order to prevent this issue from occurring in the future you will want to use an anti-rattle device, the Gen-Y Anti-Rattle Clamp part # GY88XR which would work well and it helps with lining up the hitch pin hole each time.
In regards to the multiple hitch pin holes on the factory trailer hitch, I would reach out to the manufacturer to make sure both can be used but you should not need to reset the system in doing so.
