How To Add a 7-Way Trailer Connector to a 2016 Ram ProMaster 2500

Question:

My Ram Promaster does not have a towing kit on it, but does have a trailer hitch. I would like to install 7pin wiring on the van, but do not need it to actually manage trailer brakes as my trailer does not have trailer brakes. I would like to confirm what wiring kit I need, and then also mount the plug in to my bumper, as I do not want to just have a wire dangling. Can you confirm?

If you do not currently have a trailer wiring harness on your 2016 Ram ProMaster 2500 then we first need to start with a 4-way for which I recommend the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector part # C56209 because it is plug and play, also cost effective. Then, in order to convert this 4-way into a 7-way we can use the Adapter 4-Pole to 7-Pole and 4-Pole part # 37185. The only wires you need to connect with this adapter save for the 4-way is the white wire to a ground and the black wire to the vehicle battery if your trailer has a battery. It comes with a mounting bracket but for a no-drill option you will also want to add part # C57202.

The above will be everything that you need to add a 7-way to your ProMaster. I have attached an install video of the T-Connector kit for you as well.
