Adapter Needed for 4-Way on 2018 Dodge Grand Caravan to 7-Way on Trailer Side
Question:
I want to install trailer wiring on my dodge caravan. I mostly pull four way flat trailers with no brakes. I do have a light weight trailer that has trailer brakes. I would like to be able to connect to the 7 way blade female connector on the trailer if I need to pull it. I do not wish to use the trailer brakes so I do not wish to put a brake controller in my tow vehicle. How can I best accomplish this. ie: is there a 4 blade adapter that I can use between the 4 blade on the vehicle to the 7 blade on the trailer that would let me control the trailer lights?

We have exactly what you need!
For your application I recommend installing the Hopkins Adapter # 37185 because it simply plugs into your current 4-Way connector and calls for the ground wire to be installed with a self-tapping screw, plus it gives you both 7-Way and 4-Way connectors. This means that this adapter can remain at the back of your vehicle and you never have to remember where you put it. If you choose to make the additional connections for a fully-functional 7-Way you can definitely do that but since you are just wanting the light functions you can just cap off those additional functions.
The adapter comes with a mounting bracket that when paired with the mounting bracket # 18136 gives you an easy, no-drill installation. Attached is a sample installation video on a 2013 Grand Caravan for you to check out (you won't need to complete all of the steps since you only want basic trailer lighting) as well as a photo showing what connections need to be made.
