Question:
What is the matching electric brake assembly for #8-174-5uc3? My original drum has the brake pads mounted on the inside face of the drum. Guessing it is very old style so Ill need to upgrade. Thanks

The Dexter Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly # 8-174-5UC3 is for 6,000 lb and 7,000 lb axles and has a 12" diameter x 2" wide drum.
The best brake assemblies that fit a 12" x 2" drum are the Dexter Nev-R-Adjust Electric Trailer Brake Assemblies.
For a 6,000 lb axle you need the Dexter Nev-R-Adjust Electric Trailer Brake Kit # 23-458-459 and for a 7,000 lb axle you need part # 23-464-465. Please note that these brakes do require you have a 5-bolt brake mounting flange.
You are also going to need the Mounting Bolts and Hardware for 12" Brake Assemblies # BRKH12 for installation.
I have added links to video reviews and an example install of the Dexter brakes for you to take a look at.
