Troubleshooting No Power to Buyers 12V Electric Jack When Plugged Into Ram 7-Way

Question:

Plugging this jack into my OEM light connection does not power the unit. Can you give me some direction on the best way to make this work?

The Buyers Products 12V Electric Jack # 3370093500 referenced in your question features a pre-wired harness that is designed to plug right into the 7-Way on a tow vehicle. If the jack isn't powered at all when plugged into the 7-Way on your Ram, then it's likely the 12V circuit on the connector is not active.

You can use a circuit tester like # PTW2993 to test the pin at the 1 o'clock position at the front of the 7-Way to make sure you are getting power there. If not, you may have a blown or missing fuse for this function under the hood. I took a look at the online version of the owner's manual for your 2017 Ram 2500, and it looks like you will want to check the pink 30-amp fuse located in the F30 position.

Replacing this fuse should resolve the issue you're having so that the jack can be powered when it's plugged into the 7-Way. If not, please let me know and I will be happy to look into this further.

We also have the Buyers electric jack that has stopped working. I noticed that one of the metal parts in the 7 way pin is broken off a bit. Would this cause it to no longer work? Do we just need to change the 7-pin connector?

@Sue Could definitely be it. You could try a new 7-Way since it seems like it needs one anyway (if that's not the issue it will be one soon). If the pin is just bent you could try pulling it back into place too.
