Does Rear Fascia of 2019 Mazda CX-5 Need to Remove to Install Draw Tite Trailer Hitch

When installing your Draw-Tite hitch 76138 on a 2019 Mazda CX5, your videos indicate the need to remove a small plastic trim piece from under the rear bumper to make room for the hitch. What is the purpose of that trim piece? If I am going to remove a part that Mazda chose to put there, I would like to know why it was there in the first place. Mazda must have had a reason for it.

Only the Grand Touring version of the 2019 Mazda CX-5 needs to have an appearance panel permanently removed from the underside of the vehicle to install a hitch like the # 76138. The standard 2019 Mazda CX-5 does not require this. Basically the panel is there to make the underside of the vehicle look sleeker. It's not needed aside from that.
