Longest Shank Available for the Reese Weight Distribution System
Question:
Hi, there. I purchased this Weight Distribution Kit from you last year. My trailer tongue is short and has a power jack mounted on it. I am not able to open my trucks tailgate all the way when the trailer is hooked up. Would I be able to use a longer shank with this setup to gain a few inches maybe 3 or 4 of clearance? The tongue weight is probably around 600 pounds.

Yes, you can use a longer weight distribution shank in order to obtain more clearance for your tailgate. The longest one we offer is the Equal-i-zer Weight Dist Shank part # EQ90-02-4500 which measures 14" from the center of the hitch pin hole to the center of the adjustment hole. This should give you an additional 2-1/4" of clearance. It will also give you more room for vertical adjustment if needed. There will be no issues using this shank with your Reese Weight Distribution System.
