What Weight Distribution System is Right for 1,250 lbs Tongue Weight?
Question:
What is the right weight distribution hitch rating for a trailer with about 1250 lb tongue weight?
asked by: Tom V
Helpful Expert Reply:
If your total tongue weight - the weight of the cargo behind your rear axle plus the tongue weight of your fully loaded trailer - is 1,250 lbs, you would need a system that has a tongue weight capacity which 1,250 lbs falls in the middle of to give you the best performance and ride.
For example, the system I recommend, the Blue Ox SwayPro Weight Distribution w/ Sway Control # BXW1500 is for tongue weight capacities 1,000 lbs and 1,500 lbs with a gross towing weight of 15,000 lbs.
