What Would Cause a Trailer Equalizer to Flip Up to One Side
Question:
I just replaced my leaf springs and equalizers and the one axel seems to keep flipping up. Not sure why this is happening when everything is new. Everything Is the same. The equalizer and springs measured out to be the same. Any help would be appreciated.

Can you please send me a photo of your equalizer and how it is positioned on the axle? As long as the shackle straps are facing the correct direction (see photo) and the equalizer is not contacting the trailer frame then I don't see an issue. The weight on the trailer could be moreover one axle than the other which would cause the equalizer to flip up or the leaf springs could be a slightly different length.
Unfortunately, measuring a trailer leaf spring is not exactly cut and dry. The old leaf spring will lengthen over time and it will have a different measurement unloaded vs loaded. Therefore, we recommend measuring the old leaf spring while unloaded and then subtract an inch or so to account for the wear. However, I would again not be too concerned unless the shackle straps are not in the correct orientation or there is contact between the equalizer and frame.
