Does Bed Need to Lift Up to Install Draw Tite Gooseneck part # 8339-4440

Question:

I have a 95 Chevy 2500 diesel 4WD Cheyenne single cab with 8foot bed . I plan to install this myself. Truck used to have a gooseneck hitch installed which was removed to accommodate a bed camper. There are already holes drilled in the bed. Looks like your hitch plate will cut out the section where the existing center hole is... How straightforward is this hitch to install? I am not equipped to lift the bed.

I attached a picture that I took from the install instructions for the Draw Tite gooseneck hitch part # 8339-4440 that you referenced. There's some cutting and drilling required to install the hitch but you would not need to lift the bed up to complete the install.
