Maximum Tongue Weight Capacity of 2019 Honda Odyssey With Trailer Hitch for Bike Rack
Question:
Hello! I have a 2019 Honda Odyssey and am looking to add a trailer hitch so I can carry a bike rack. I would like to know what the most weight I can put on the hitch is because I have pretty heavy bikes and Im looking for a rack that can carry heavy bikes as well so I assume the rack would weigh quite a bit. Can you tell me how much a hitch can carry and a good bike rack that will work?

The tongue weight capacity - or the most a bike rack and loaded bikes can carry - is going to depend on the specific trailer hitch. For your 2019 Honda Odyssey the best hitch to use for a bike rack is the etrailer.com Trailer Hitch Receiver # E98855 which has a tongue weight capacity of 525 lbs.
The etrailer hitch # E98855 is the best option to use a bike rack because it offers the best bumper clearance with a distance of just three inches from the hitch pin hole to the bumper, as you can see by the accompanying photo which shows this hitch on a 2019 Honda Odyssey. I have also added a link to a video of this hitch being installed on a '19 Honda Odyssey for you to take a look at.
For a bike rack to carry heavy bikes I highly recommend the Yakima HoldUp # Y02443, which is a 2-bike rack but can be turned into a 4-bike rack with the addition of the Plus 2 2-Bike Add-On for Yakima HoldUp # Y02446. The 2-bike version of the HoldUp has a 60 lb per bike capacity and if you use the Add-On the rack will have a total capacity of 200 lbs.
The HoldUp is the best bike rack for you because it is easy to use and comes with integrated security features. This rack has wheel holders that make it easy to load your bikes and are held securely in place with a ratcheting hook on for the front wheel and straps for the rear wheel which means there will not be any contact with your bike's frame. I have added a photo of this rack in use which displays how the rack will hold your bike.
With the simple pull of the HoldUp's spring-loaded pin on its base the bike rack will also fold up against the rear of your '19 Odyssey when you are not using it to carry bikes or tilt down, even when the bikes are loaded. It comes with an anti-rattle hitch lock to secure the rack to your Odyssey and cables locks built into the arms that lock your bikes to the rack and help protect your investments. These locks are keyed alike as well so you don't have to try and remember which key is for which lock.
I have added links to video reviews of the Yakima HoldUp # Y02443 as well as the Plus 2 2-Bike Add-On for Yakima HoldUp # Y02446 for you to check out.
