I DIY Installed and said a few curse words. Summer time on the rocks with the car on the ground was not fun installing. Use car lifts when you install. It’ll make your life easier. The fear that only 1 of each bolt Is provided and you have to slide a rather large bolt through the square tubing of the car (if you lose grip of it there will be no getting it back) is intimidating. The instructions were on half a page with pictures. But not clear enough. It took three attempts to get the thing attached properly. I needed another set of hands. A jack stand would have worked for me if I had the car lifted. At the end of it all.. I would’ve paid someone to install for me. If you have a way to life the vehicle and hole the hitch up life will definitely be easier. Drove 6 hours + multiple times with a harbor freight 2 bike rack (XX$) and 2 bikes attached and it has been great! Side note** the plastic guard for the Jetta will have to be cut to fit or attached and hanging like the picture..
Trailer hitch is very well made I was able to install it by myself with the aid of a floor jack. Fishing the side bolt through the frame was not as easy as I hoped but using a pry bar and jiggling the side of the hitch the holes and spacer lined up and the bolt came through.
I installed my hitch yesterday, it is definitely a two person job just to get both sides up together. Don't try it alone. The video is great, I watched it twice then ran it again on my phone while working. It's all pretty straightforward, five fasteners total. The kit is wonderful, includes everything, even longer bolts for the exhaust bracket to accommodate the thickness of the hitch bracket.
The hardest part was using the fish wire (included) to pull a carriage bolt through. Take your time, do the steps in order and it works like magic.
On my 2017 Jetta, I did not bend any sheet metal on the exhaust bracket (video shows this) and, with some heavy duty scissors, was able to cut a slot in the plastic fascia covering the vapor canister and reinstall it. Looks very clean and custom.
This is a light hitch - with a 1.4 turbo you shouldn't expect to tow a big boat or camper. The whole load for my rowing boat is only a few hundred pounds, most of it the trailer. I'm not rigging lights since Georgia does not require them if tow vehicle lights are visible, plus I am very close to the river. I think this will be a perfect rig!

The fit up and alignment were great. Also, kudos for the install video on the trailer web site.
Had a lot of trouble with the fished in bolt and plate. Had to clearance the plate opening so the bolt shoulder would fit.
Almost gave up on the bolt, but after 15 minutes of jiggling, sweating, and hoping, the bolt came thru the plate, body, spacer and hitch. Not an easy fit. It worked out though, so all is well. My advice is to test fit these pieces on the hitch prior to assembly.
Also trimmed the evaporator cover per the Curt instructions, and re installed. Took some fitting to get ot right, but all trimming was done with a razor knife, so not too hard.

1 year later, the hitch is holding up and doing well. It was originally installed for bicycle rack, and utility trailer mulch duty. Unfortunately, ended up moving unexpectedly, and used the hitch to pull a small covered trailer cross county. Worked fine.
I bought the hitch primarily for a bike rack. Installation was simple and straight forward. I did deviate from instructions about leaving the lower cover off. I felt uncomfortable leaving the leak detection pump exposed to the elements. A simple slot cut into the lower right cover to straddle the hitch leg solved the problem.

Great, no regrets
I bought this to use a hitch mounted bike rack and have not been disappointed at all. The receiver is not very noticeable on my car and is well built. It was difficult to install and took a few hours to complete, but that was more because of the design of car than the hitch.

It has been a year and the hitch is still working out great for me. It looks like it is in good condition and feels as sturdy as the day it was installed.
The hitch appears to be a quality product. Everything bolted on without any additional modifications although the passenger side hardware can be very tricky to install. Take your time with that side and be sure to have an extra set of hands available. Extremely impressed with the shipping. I received this hitch near the xmas holiday, 4 days earlier than I expected it. (2017 VW Jetta).

One year and the hitch has been great. This hitch hauls my trailer flawlessly and I have had no problems with it. I am very happy to be able to haul my kayaks or pickup lumber without having to dump my hard earned cash into the gas tank of a guzzling truck. Very practical solution for my hauling needs.
This was my third experience with etrailer, and unfortunately not the best. The installation was more challenging than billed. It was particularly difficult to pull the side bolt through the frame, and pull it through the spacer. I never did get it done right. I will have to find some time to go back, completely remove the hitch and completely pull the bolt through, because right now I don't have the side bolt on the passenger side installed. It still might be solid enough for my bike carrier, but I want to make it completely right.
My previous installations on a Mitsubishi Outlander and a Nissan Rogue were straightforward and trouble-free; I can't say the same for this one.

Great
Hitch is strong and held up well a year and a long cold winter later. Have a great bike rack attached for summer and hitch has reminded very sturdy.
Excellent fit. Easy to install after watching etrailer’s video. Will be using the hitch for a bicycle rack.

Great! Solid mount for light duty, I use it several times weekly. I do notice a rattle, I need to jack it up and inspect, could be an exhaust mount noise that is my fault. Only recently started.
