Installation Instructions for Curt Front-Mount Hitch 33328 for 2004 Honda Pilot

Question:

Hello there, Would you have detailed instructions for me so I can install my front mount hitch? The intent is to put bicycles on the front end so I can bring the boat along on the rear. Thanks.

I linked the installation instructions for the Curt hitch # 33328 which is the front-mount hitch that fits your 2004 Pilot. This front hitch requires no drilling and bolts on with included hardware using pre-drilled mounting holes as noted in the photo.

I also included two helpful articles and a video on hitch installation. One article covers the entire process and the other article and video address the process of cleaning out the Pilot's frame weld nuts. These nuts can develop corrosion in their threads and make it seem like the hitch hardware is too large when in fact it is just the rust making it appear that way.

Please note that if you are re-installing the hitch from another vehicle you MUST use all new hardware since hitch hardware can be torqued only one time. We do offer complete hardware kits. Just use part # RHK and on its page enter the hitch brand and part number.

Since you're going to be using a bike rack in the hitch be sure that the total combined weight of the rack itself and all of the loaded bikes does not exceed the 350-lb vertical load limit for the hitch. In a case where you needed to carry 4 bikes, using a rack like the USA-made 63-lb Saris SuperClamp EX 4 Bike Platform Rack # SA4026F might be a better choice than the Thule T2 Pro XTR # TH83JV with 2-bike add-on # TH9036XT which weighs 1-1/2-times as much at 96-lbs.
