Can the Foot-Activated Liftgate Still Work with Trailer Hitch Installed on a 2015 Ford Edge

Question:

We have a 2015 Ford Edge that has the foot activated lift gate on it. Do you sell a trailor hitch, when after putting it on, will the foot activated lift gate still work? Also we have a 2008 Ford fushion. If we put a trailor hitch on it, would it pull a 18 ft runabout boat. We only pull it 3 miles to put in and take it out, and if so what hitch would you recommend. Thanks

I recommend going with the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch # 75234 for your 2015 Ford Edge. This is a Class III trailer hitch with a 2" receiver that will not prohibit the use of your foot-activated tailgate although you may have to kick straight out in a different spot than you do now (see attached picture). If you let me know what you will be using this hitch for I can make additional recommendations if necessary.

As far as towing with your 2008 Ford Fusion is concerned, I took a look at the online version of your owner's manual and on page 186 Ford specifically states not to tow with your vehicle. We do have the Class I, 1-1/4" trailer hitch # C11329 and the wiring # 118422 for your vehicle but I still don't recommend doing so since Ford has tested and not approved it.
