Brake Controller Wiring on a 2000 Dodge Dakota with Factory Tow Package
Question:
I have a 2000 Dodge Dakota with the OEM tow package and would like to hook up a Tekonsha Prodigy P2 brake controller. My question is this In your installation instructions it says that fuses may have to be installed under the hood ,exactly where under the hood? Also, will I have to install a circuit breaker or is there one already there with the OEM towing package?

Expert Reply:
All fuses and breakers needed for the operation of your brake controller should already be in place. You can check your owner's manual for the location of the fuses that manage the tow package. All you should have to do is plug in one end of the wiring adapter, part # 3020P to the port next to the emergency brake, then attach the other end to the brake controller.
The connection point should be under the dash, near the top of the emergency brake pedal. The actual connector will be light blue in color.
No additional circuit breakers will be necessary, as the OEM tow package is already circuit-protected.
