Solution for Allowing Fifth Wheel Trailer to be Towed Level
Question:
Just purchased new dodge ram 2500 long box crew cab with a cummins diesel, problem with this truck compared to my Ram 1500 is the fifth wheel is no longer level. It is leaning rearwardfs putting more weight on the rear axle. I want to keep my sidewinder hitch for the possibility of folding the arm in when parked in the driveway, other wise it would stick out into the street. Because I want to fold it in I can not raise the pin box up to lower the front of the fifth wheel because I will not be able to fold it due to lack of clearance. The fifth wheel is a Flagstaff superlite Model 8528 RLSS 2012 with Al-Ko torsion suspension, I cant seem to find a model number but have found a p/n : 1441775 , I do have the serial number if that can help. 044-46337-001-0354290-00102. How do I or what do I need to raise the suspension by approx 3 inches? I did see on your site kits for some models but not for the Flagstaff. Please give me any suggestions on how to remedy this situation before our camping season starts.

I am not sure what fifth wheel hitch you have, but basically all of them are height adjustable. You can raise and lower the head of the hitch which can help lower the nose of your trailer so that it can sit level.
It also might be possible to lift your trailer as well.
You can do this by moving the axles from being above the leaf springs to below the leaf springs.
The diameter of your trailer axle will determine the size of the parts that you will need to order. If your axle is 3 inches diameter, the Dexter Trailer Springs Over-Under Conversion Kit, # K71-385-00, would be a great choice and if your axle is 2-3/8 inch diameter you could use the Over-Under Kit, # K71-384-00. These kits can be installed without welding but the manufacturer strongly recommends having the new spring seat tacked in place on the other side of the trailer axle.
Some refer to this process as "flipping the axles," but since axles have a slight bow to it you can't just flip them and reinstall them under the springs using the same spring seats. You have to install new spring seats on the opposite side of the axle so that it can be moved below the spring.
