Why Would Coupler Fit Too Tightly to Hitch Ball
Question:
I have a boat trailer - the toung in the hitch sticks in the closed locked on the ball position even w/o the ball connected. So I took the hitch off the trailer and hay it works fine. Put it back on the trailer and its binding. If I loosen up the front of the two bolts that connect the hitch to the trailer the coupler is fine. Tighten that bolt and it binds and Im talking binds up hard. WD40 etc is not going to fix it. Any ideas?

Sounds like you are talking about the adjustment hardware for the coupler latch. It may be too tight and you'd just need to loosen it a bit so that it secures to the hitch ball but doesnt' hold it too tight.
