What Drill Bit Should be Used for the 2-1/2 Long Torx Screw # TFX250ACQ
Question:
Hi, I am in the process of replacing my trailer boards with pressure treated lumber. I am planning to purchase your 2 1/2 inch Torx screws to secure the new boards. Questions I have are: 1 should I use the same holes in the trailer frame or drill new ones? 2 What type of drill bit should I use to drill the 7/32 inch pilot holes, i.e cobalt? 3 What size Torx bit does your bolt need? T30/T40? Thanks!

I would go ahead and use the same holes that are already on your trailer. just make sure that they are the 7/32" diameter needed for the 2-1/2" Long Torx Screw # TFX250ACQ and that they have a good grip. If the screws don't seem to hold very well then you'll want to go with different locations or larger screws.
When it comes to what type of drill bit we don't really have a recommendation. Since every application is different it is really up to the customer's discretion.
The Torx Head Screwdriver Bit # TX430-1 is what fits this screw. It has the standard 1/4" hex driver bit on one end and then a TRX 30 bit size for the screw.
This screw comes in a quantity of one so you just need to change the quantity to how many you are needing. Might be useful to order a few extra just in case.
