Which Curt Hitch Provides More Ground Clearance for a 2018 Jeep Cherokee

2018 Jeep Cherokee limited c13171 and c13172 what is the ground clarence to top of hitchs? Compared to factory hitch? Would there be much of a difference between your hitch or factory pulling a 6x12 enclosed trailer. What wiring harnesses would I need?

The distance from the ground to the top of the inside edge on the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # C13171 is 11-1/4" when we installed it on a 2017 Jeep Cherokee. The distance from the ground to the top of the inside edge on the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # C13172 is 13" when we installed it on a 2017 Jeep Cherokee. Therefore, part # C13172 will provide more ground clearance than part # C13171. Please note that we have not yet installed either of these hitches on a 2018 Jeep Cherokee yet so the ground clearance measurements may be slightly different if at all from a 2017 to a 2018.

I recommend using the part # C13172 because it gives you more ground clearance in addition to providing a cleaner/sleeker look (see photo). Unfortunately, we do not do much with factory hitches therefore you would need to measure this yourself and compare to the above. Our aftermarket hitches will more than likely provide more capacity than the factory hitch but please remember you will be limited by the vehicle's towing capacity if it is lower than the hitch.

For a wiring harness, I recommend using part # 118605 if you do not have the factory tow package or part # HM40975-11933 if you do have the factory tow package.

I did some digging around and could not find the exact weight. I can tell you that the shipping weight is 29 pounds and I would think the packaging would be around 3 pounds. So, the best estimate would be 26 pounds.
