After reviewing the video there were no surprises. I used a pair of "Rino" ramps on my driveway and was done in about an hour. Cutting the fascia was the most nerve racking part. Used a sharp utility knife and it turned out great. Lifting it into place was accomplished with the help of my wife. I left the fish wires all attached to play it safe and it all worked well. Torquing the side nuts took some effort since I only had so much room to position myself with the ramps. AS I stated in the review of the T connector harness your resources and knowledge made it a easy choice to buy from etrailer.

Nice of you guys to follow up. I was glad to write the review since I was well satisfied with the product and process. The hitch and harness have performed flawlessly. Your company will always be my first stop for anything tow related.

What I really liked about buying from etrailer, was the fact that I could view an installation video for my exact make, model and year vehicle. Because of that, the installation went off without a hitch (well, actually, there was a hitch involved, but you know what I mean). It ended up being a great daddy-daughter project too! I've used it at least a dozen times in the last year to haul building materials from the local hardware store, and it works like a champ.

Very good hitch receiver. I have had it for a year now and still holds up. Fits my 2014 Jeep Cherokee nicely. Would recommend installing during warmer parts of the year or in a warm garage.

Great product. I bought the 2014 Cherokee tow hitch and wiring harness. Received shipment in a reasonable amount of time and at a great price. In good condition and came with user friendly instuctions. Looks and works great! I would recommend this to other users.

Im so glad someone posted a picture of their Cherokee with a hitch installed on a model other than a Trailhawk! Thank You So Much! Now Im not so worried about buying one to put on my Latitude. All the parts guys at the Jeep house kept saying I was going to have to cut a hole in my bumper!

This Curt Class III hitch is confirmed for all the 2014 Jeep Cherokee Models, including Sport, Latitude, Trailhawk, and Limited. So this would work out great for your Latitude. As indicated in the installation instructions (linked above on the right hand side of the page) there is some fascia trimming involved for installing this hitch.

Chad M.

3/20/2015

What did you use to cut the metal silver colored trim on the lower fascia? I have the limited version and didnt know if it would get ruined. But would love to have some pointers?

We show how our installers trimmed the fascia on a very similar vehicle in the install video that I have linked for you. You can fast forward to the about the 4 minute and 40 second mark. The amount trimmed on your vehicle might be slightly different, but the process is the same.

We do not have any additional pictures for Andrew's installation. But if you check out the video I have linked you can see the installation process.

This was a great alternative to having the hitch installed by my local Jeep dealership. They were wanting to charge me $1100 for hardware and installation. I was able to order the hitch and wiring kit and have it installed by a local auto body shop for a little over $300, so I saved about $500 on it. It was a great buy and it was easy to find what I needed. I really liked this hitch because most of the hardware is concealed by the bumper, where some other models have much more of the crossbar visible from the back below the bumper.

2016 Jeep Cherokee

I was a bit concerned at the beginning on whether or not I could successfully install a hitch on my new Jeep Cherokee. When I saw the installation video you offered there didn't seem to be anything that would prevent me from installing it. I was right !

The hitch actually arrived a day earlier than expected, late in the week and by that weekend I had it installed. The video, ( which YES I watched several times before beginning ) explained exactly what to expect. Your video indicated it was the closet thing to a factory install. That is exactly what I found. Because it was my first time installing a hitch it took me and a friend just under two hours. The results were definitely worth it. Thanks for the great product and all the additional assistance.

The Curt product is of high quality and fit perfectly. I would purchase it again. However, I rated it a 3 due to the instructions. They were totally wrong and did not help, except with the fascia cutting. Fortunately this is the 4th such hitch I've installed on a personal vehicle. I have added pictures to assist others with this at the instructions provided are for mounting the hitch are worthless.

Photo #1: These are the instructions I received. FYI-They-re not any help.
Photo #2 & #3: Install the bolt that is closest to the bumper (Back of the car) on both sides.
a) Insert the fishing wire in the round hole and pull the coiled in down through the square hole in the car frame.
b) Put the end through the metal mounting plate with the square hole supplied with the hitch (There are 6 of them).
c) Thread the bolt to the fishing wire.
d) Gently pull on the wire while sliding the mounting plat through the square hole, then the bolt.
e. Keep pulling until the bold passes through the mounting plate and extends through the round hole in the frame.
Do this in both sides.

Lift the hitch into place and align it so the bolt passes through the rear most mounting hole. Be careful to only tighten the included nut about 1 1/2 turns. The hitch should be lightly secured and when the hitch receiver is raised, you should have access to the square hole in the frame to insert the next bolt.

Photo #4 & #5: This is slightly tricky. You need to push the fishing wire through the hitch hole on the upturned hitch flange, then into the round frame hole. You will need to raise the hitch receiver to gain access tho the square frame hole. BE CAREFUL. There is not much space for your fingers. Put your index finger between the hitch and the square frame hole. While pushing the fishing wire in, feel for the coiled end and guide it through the square frame hole. The put a mounting plate on the coiled wire end the screw on a bolt. Gently slide the mounting plate through the square frame hole then attache the bolt to the wire. Pull the bolt into the frame, but DO NOT pull the bolt through the second hole round hole used to secure the hitch. (You have to do this so you can still tilt the hitch back and fort. If you insert the bot through the frame and hitch, you'll lose the necessary play to insert the final two bolts. Repeat on the other side.

Photo #6: This one different. The final two bolts that will go into the square frame hole need to be inserted first. Push the coiled end of the fishing wire through the hole in the hitch and to the side. Slide on the mounting plate then thread on the bolt. Now push the bolt into the square frame hole and then the mounting plate. Lift the hitch and pull the bolt down into the hitch and lightly tighten the nut onto the bolt.

Photo #7: You will now push the hitch up and pull the bolt you previously did not pull through. You may need to wiggle the hitch a little as you pull on the fishing wire to get the last bolts in. This is a finesse move so be patient.

Photo #8: Tighten all lower bolts then the top two, one on each side and you're done. I hope the explanation and photos help.

This is my 3rd Curt Hitch. I installed em for friends. Before you order, make sure you include the trim. This hitch went on a Jeep Cherokee..trim: Trailhawk. It took a bit to get a verification that this will fit, but i found it. The rear lower fascia needs to be trimed. I went with their instructions but i found i needed to custom trim so it didnt have a gigantic hole. Its not bad. The turn signal kit worked great but there are two different kinds. It all worked out and its ready to haul.

I installed this on my 2018 Jeep Cherokee Latitude. The install is pretty straight forward. If you have a V6 with twin exhaust tips they will have to be removed. It will be primary used with our Thule bike rack in the summer and as a recovery point in the winter. The build quality looks great and I highly recommend it.

by:

Just wanted to let you know the hitch was great!!

Easy to install, although I realized I couldn't do it. Crawling under the car right now with a hip and shoulder issue was just in my game plan, so I had a friend do it. (He also had a real lift) Quick and easy and looks great.

One of the best features is that it does NOT protrude from the body. As someone who has walked close behind another vehicle with a hitch that sticks out, that is quite important to me.

Here's a pic of my installed hitch on my 2016 Jeep Cherokee Limited. The fascia wasn't exactly like pictured in your video but that was just cosmetic.

by:
2018 Jeep Cherokee

Great product. Really like the style, it is completely hidden behind the fascia except for the the receiver. You definitely need a 2nd person to help wrestle it into position, it is very heavy. I had to remove additional frame components so the muffler would drop enough to get clearance to get the hitch into position, but it was not a big deal. I have a 2018 Jeep Cherokee. There was a wiring harness to move on both driver and passenger sides but all worked out okay. Beyond the Curt instructions the etrailer install video was extremely helpful.

Love the hitch. Very nice look and durable. Fun project to take on and not too difficult. Would definitely recommend having someone help when lifting the hitch up into place and getting the bolts through. Was a little concerned about cutting the rear fascia on my jeep but just took my time and it turned out perfect.

The hitch installed nicely nothing rubbed at all. Very nice products and the videos made it easy. Also installed harness for trailer lights and brakes.

2017 Jeep Cherokee

Install is super easy. I did it in my drive way on car ramps took me about two hrs but I was taking my time and you can definitely do it faster. I haven’t used it yet but seems very strong and super heavy. I did the install myself but having a second person just to help you get it in place would help. I installed on a 2017 Jeep Cherokee. The video was super helpful. 6 bolts and done. Also the feed wires worked amazing. The shipping was free and still made it here in two day even tho is was five day shipping. Haven’t used it yet but very happy so far.

2018 Jeep Cherokee hitch. Installed the hitch finally, singlehanded. Attached photo is setup used to balance hitch on floor jack slide under vehicle and lift into position without second person. 2x4 is 34 inches long and secured with tiewraps to hitch and tube brace.

2016 video was better for my instance.

Very difficult to install (and I've had three other products from etrailer that were much easier). I'm glad I was able to use the hoist and professional tools at work. I had to reroute a wire that was not mentioned (it was either a tail lamp or power lift gate wire). The exhaust hangar interfered with chassis components and needed a pry bar to move it, and the hitch was too tight to fit around the frame. I was only able to get 5 of the 6 bolts installed. Luckily I know I will never have a heavy load on this hitch (only a bike rack, or small utility trailer.)

It is important to make sure that the hitch is installed according to the instructions by the manufacturer. Not doing so would compromise the integrity of the hitch and could void any warranties it may come with. They are designed to be installed specifically as outlined. It is possible the hitch was flexed or bent in transit. If so, you should be able to correct it. I have attached an article with a few different techniques for correcting a flexed hitch.

Great product with great instructions. It worked out well with the bike rack that I ended up getting. It was a little bit of a pain to install on the ground, so it took two people but it went in with ease in about 30 minutes to 45 minutes.

by:
2016 Jeep Cherokee

Great product. Was able to install in about 1.5 hours with two of us doing the install together. Followed the online installation video as well as printed instructions that came with the hitch. Fishwires were super helpful.

by:

I’m not a pro at this so it took a bit longer then the instructions stated. I don’t think I did bad for someone in the medical field. It fit great. Looks great! Only got hit in the head by the muffler once. Oh, the fish wires are a pain to keep untangled, couldn’t do without them.

by:
2017 Jeep Cherokee

I didn't put it on yet but the packaging stinks

by:
2018 Jeep Cherokee

Excellent product. Install wasn’t difficult and we didn’t even have to jack the Jeep off the ground. The hitch looks great installed because it is mostly hidden behind the fascia.

by:
2014 Jeep Cherokee

The installation process was exactly as indicated in your video. My son and I installed the hitch on his 2014 Jeep Cherokee in a couple of hours. It probably could have been installed in less time but simply wanted to be "labor" and allowed him to call the shots. It was a rewarding project for both of us.

Great price! Ordered on a Saturday with free shipping and received it on Wednesday. Shocked on how quick I got it. Everything was in the box. Prior to ordering we watched the videos for instalation which helped tremendously that is provided by etrailer. We had it on my jeep within the hour. Now I'm ready for my Elk Hunt.

I highly recommend etrailer. Already got a friend ordering one!

Bolted right up. Instructions & video helped tremendously. Only issue, had to do some minor cutting on the chrome exhaust tips to put them back on my Cherokee. Took a little longer than I expected.

  • Curt C13172 Hitch Fit for 2019 Jeep Cherokee
The Curt Class III # C13172 is a fit for 2014-2018 Cherokee models, but isn't a fit for the 2019 according to Curt. For the 2019 model, if you wanted a concealed crossbar hitch you'd need the # C13395 as there was a slight change in the rear structure that won't allow the # C13172 to fit models after 2018. Originally, it was believed that the # C13172 was a simple carryover from the 2018 model year, but that wan't proven to be the case. I've linked to an installation video that you might...
