How to Choose a Ball Mount for Towing with a 2017 Nissan Murano

Question:

Good afternoon, Im planning to purchase DRAW-TITE trailer hitch receiver #75952 for my 2017 Murano and vehicle wiring harness #C56267. Cant decide about ball mount. Is the 2 inch mount with 2 inch ball #C45036 will be good for my car? I mean Murano hitch receiver will be low and + 2 inch more will be ok?

The Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver # 75952 and the Curt T-Connector # C56267 are great options to get your 2017 Nissan Murano set up for towing. I have attached some installation videos and instructions for you to reference.

When it comes to a ball mount the Curt Class III Ball Mount # C45036 that you referenced is also a great option and has received great reviews, but it may or may not be what you want for your application.

One of the most important things in towing is making sure that everything is level. It helps with trailer sway and ride quality. To determine what kind of rise or drop you need for a ball mount you will need to start off by measuring from the (level) ground to the top of the inside of your hitch receiver and then from the (level) ground to the bottomg of your trailer coupler. If your hitch height is higher then you need a ball mount with a drop. If the coupler height is higher then you will need a ball mount with a rise.

Once you have those measurements you will simply subtract the smaller of the two numbers from the larger of the two numbers and that will tell you the rise or drop that you need.

When we installed the Draw-Tite # 75952 hitch on a 2016 Murano we found that the hitch height was 12-1/2". This should roughly be the same for your 2017 model. You can then measure the coupler of your trailer to determine if the Curt # C45036, which has a 2" drop, will work for your aplpication. If you can find a ball mount within about an inch of what you need that will get the job done.
