Recommended Trailer Hitch and Wiring for 2017 Ford Edge Titanium
Question:
my 2017 Ford Edge with 3.5 V6 is rated to tow 2000 lbs but if it had the tow package it would be lbs. If I added one of your Class III hitches and a transmission cooler would that increase the tow capacity? The factory tow package consists of the receiver hitch, a heavy duty radiator, and the wiring pigtail.

The various components of a factory towing package can vary greatly between vehicle manufacturers and models. I was not able to confirm what the towing package for your 2017 Ford Edge consists of, but adding aftermarket products to a vehicle will not increase its base towing capacity. This is simply because a vehicle is always going to be limited by its weakest component.
If the owner's manual states a towing capacity of 2,000 pounds for your vehicle (which I was able to verify), then you will always be limited by this number, even if you were to add a hitch with a greater capacity or an aftermarket transmission cooler. I do not recommend exceeding the capacity of the vehicle itself.
For a Class III trailer hitch that is confirmed to fit your 2017 Ford Edge Titanium, I recommend the Draw-Tite Class III Max Frame Round Tube Receiver Hitch # 75214. This custom-fit hitch will use existing holes in the vehicle's frame for a no-drill installation. I have attached an installation video on your Ford Edge that you can use for reference.
Since it sounds like you will be doing some towing, I recommend the Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118677 to add a 4-Way connector to the vehicle. This harness is also custom-fit for your Edge and will install by connecting directly to the built-in ports located behind the driver and passenger side tail lights.
You will also need a ball mount to tow a trailer. I have attached a great article that explains how to choose the best one for your setup, along with a link that will take you to our available selection.
Lastly, if you would like to add a transmission cooler, I highly recommend the Derale Transmission Cooler # D13503. This is a great, plate-fin cooler that will help to prolong the life of your transmission and also improve its overall performance. The unit measures 11 inches wide, 8-3/4 inches tall, and 7/8 inches deep. You will just want to make sure you have this space availabel between your grille and AC condenser core.
