Recommended Tire Replacement for 4.8-12 Tires for Higher Load Capacity

Question:

I HAVE A 1971 TRAILSTAR POP UP WITH 4.8-12 TIRES 4 BOLT, HUB CONCENTRIC WHEEL WITH 2.5 PIOLET. I HAVE STRIPED THE UNIT AND MODIFIED FOR TRAILERING LAWN EQUIPMENT. I WOULD LIKE A REPLACEMENT TIRE AND WHEEL OR EVEN BETTER A SET THAT HAS A HIGHER LOAD RATING OF C TO ACCOMIDATE TRACTOR WEIGHT.... ORIGINAL ARMSTRONG HIGH SPEED TRAILER TIRES ARE NOT MARKED FOR LOAD RATING. THANKS!

I recommend moving to a radial with the Kenda Karrier S-Trail ST145/R12 Radial Tire w/ 12" White Spoke Wheel - 4 on 4 - LR D # AM35351DX. This will give you a speed rating of 65 mph max and will increase your load capacity to 1,220 lbs at 65 psi or 2,440 lbs per axle. All trailer tires unless marked have this speed rating. This has a pilot hole that is slightly larger but trailer wheels are designed to be lug centric so they will center based on the lugs as you tighten them.

Let me know if you have questions. I've attached an article to further assist.
