Can a Smaller Tire be Used With Snowmobile Trailer?

Question:

I have a 14’ aluminum enclosed snowmobile trailer with ST205/75R14 LRC radial tires - I want a smaller tire so the trailer isn’t so tall and the ramp is not so steep... what’s a smaller or shorter tire size I can switch too? Could I use a 20.5x8x10??

The ST205/75R14 tires you have are designed to fit on 14" wheels, and there are no tires which would be shorter you could use on 14" wheels. What you would need to do instead is get a new wheel and tire combination that would allow you to use a smaller tire but still have the right load capacity. To do that you would need to know your wheel's bolt pattern; I've added a link to a help article which details how to determine your bolt pattern.

If you have a 5 on 4-1/2 bolt pattern, which is the most common size, you can use the Karrier # AM31994, which is a 13" wheel that has a 175/80R13 tire on it that will be 2.1" shorter and has a capacity of 1,610 lbs, which is close to what a 205/75R14 tire has.

I've added a link to a video review of this tire and wheel, as well as a link to our selection of available tire and wheel combos.
