What is Needed to add Brake Controller to 2009 Toyota Venza?
Question:
I have an XJ Cherokee with 7-pole and trailer brake. Im considering buying a Venza V6 AWD. The wiring kits I see here for Venza are 4-pole. How would I wire a Venza for 7-pole and trailer brakes? Thanks

In order to utilize trailer brakes with your 2009 Toyota Venza there are a few things you would need. To start you'd want to install the 4-pole that you mentioned, the T-One Harness # 118482, if your Venza did not already have a 4-flat. The next thing you'd need would the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller # ETBC7; this kit has the wiring and hardware needed to use a brake controller and 7-way connector, including a 4-pole to 7-pole adapter.
For a brake controller I strongly recommend checking out the P2 Prodigy # 90885, a proportional controller which is one of our most popular options due to it's ease of use and high quality. Your best bet for a hitch would be the Draw-Tite # 75663, a Class III hitch with a 2" receiver that has a bolt-on installation.
I've added links to video reviews of these parts for you to take a look at, as well as videos of installs for you to examine the process involved.
