Recommended Replacement 4-Pole Wiring Harness for 2001 Toyota Tacoma
Question:
I have a 2001 Toyota Tacoma, I have an older hoppy plug and play which has I believe has gone bad, either the converter or a cut wire somewhere. I am not getting any volts on the right side green wire of the 4 way flat connector vehicle side when the brake is applied. I am getting 11v on the left side yellow wire of the 4 way flat connector vehicle side. I am getting 12v plus when tbe running lights are on brown wire. Left side blinker 10v, right side blinker only 7v at most. The ground is good. I know it is the plug and play that is the problem because I am getting 12v plus on both rear factory plugs on both right and left tail light plugs with brake lights, blinkers, running lights. I am looking at replacing the hoppy plug and play harness with the Curt brand plug and play wiring harness is this what you recommend?

Nice job recapping your troubleshooting efforts with the trailer lighting issue. I agree that based on your testing results it does appear the converter in the harness is toast. If it has been in service in the 2001 Tacoma for all these 16 years then you totally got your money's worth!
Although we offer wiring from many good brands we do find that the best reliability tends to come with Tekonsha products. You can use the plug-and-play 4-pole harness # 118379. I recommend using dielectric grease like # 11755 on the plugs to protect them from migration of moisture inside the connectors which could lead to corrosion-related problems.
