Load resistors like # DI34ZR that are sometimes needed for LED-type trailer lighting are sealed when manufactured but they are not intended to be submersed in water.

The best way to install load resistors on a trailer whose LED lights need them for proper operation with the vehicle wiring is to use a junction box like # 38656 or # HS381-9000 mounted up near the trailer's tongue area. This will protect the resistors from damage that could occur if they were to be submersed while hot.

You'd then want to run your wiring for the LED lights from the junction box back to the lights using wire such as # 16-4B-1.

Often users disconnect their trailer wiring connector from the vehicle before backing the trailer into water.
