Video Transcript for Review of Diamond Lights - Load Resistors - DI34ZR

Jeff: Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're going to take a look at the 50 watt load resister kit for the LED turn signals. It is for a quantity of two resistors. Now these load resistors will prevent hyperflashing on your turn signals with LED bulbs. It's designed to work with most import and domestic vehicles. You can see they are a nice compact design.

They'll fit into tight spaces. These are compatible with 12 volt DC systems. They will surface mount behind your vehicle headlights and the connection plugs are included. The quick connect plugs, which will let you easily connect to your power source. A few specs again, it's two load resistors.

Wattage is 50 watts, electrical resistance is six ohms, and last thing I want to do is just give you dimensions on the resistor. The length on it, right at two inches long. The width, including the mounting brackets, it's right at one and a quarter inches wide. And the overall height of it is right at 11 16ths of an inch tall. But that should do it for the review on the 50 watt load resistor kit for the LED turn signals..

This product fixed my trailer LED light issues while connected to my 2020 Silverado HD. I used 1 of these on each circuit to place proper load on circuit so that the truck would recognize the trailer was connected and allow the lights to function properly.

I wanted to ask how you had installed them? We have a great question on the site that can help. Please see the link below.

The LED tail lights work as expected and easy to install. I didn't need the resistors but will keep them for possible
future needs.

by:

Good transaction, will use again.

Converted recently to LED lights on my 2008 Dodge Ram 2500. Although the manufacturer assured me the LED replacement lights were simple plug-n-play & thus did not need resistors to prevent hyper-flash… WRONG, rear signals did not play well w/ others. Jesse M identified the correct resistor set, shipping was fast & the frustrating hyper-flash eliminated immediately. Thanks Jesse!

Great Service

This is the second set I ordered. I replaced all my lights on my Toyota with LED's and the hyper flash issue came to light. I knew a resistor would work but didn't know exactly what to get. I called and as usual, etrailer was extremely helpful. The customer service lady suggested what to purchase and I did. The resister set arrived early which was wonderful, however in packaging they pretty much weaken the wiring as they fold them over to get them in the clam shell. Both resisters look pretty frail and I fear the wires will break eventually. I went ahead and installed them and unfortunately they only fixed my hazard lights, turn signals still hyper flash. I ordered a second set to put one at each corner. The packaging was the exact same. GGGGRRR. I have not installed these yet but I hope they fix my problem and the wires do not break. The set is affordable but my only complaint about etrailer is the shipping. I have had instances where it's cheaper to keep product then to return it.

by:

It was easy to install the resistor with quick connect clips, I wish there was some instructions with the packaging. I didn't know if it matters what side of resistor was connected to positive. I decided to just install them and fixed my hyper flashing the new led tail lights.

LED Rules!

by:

Took care of the hyper problem.

by:

Quick processing & shipment. Product was also packaged well.

by:

Easy to hookup. Was on time.

  • How to Install Load Resistors
I have added a diagram for you which details how to install the Putco LED Light Bulb Load-Resistors # DI34ZR. The LEDs will have one power wire and one ground wire; all you need to do is tap one end of the load resistor into the power wire and the other end will either ground to the trailer or the ground wire from the bulb.

  • Recommendation for Allowing Mercedes to Tow a Trailer with LEDs without Bulb Out Warning
I have a solution for you, but as far as a simple adapter like the part # 20142 that would plug into your 7-way round there isn't an option available. Instead you would need to install load resistors on all of the taillight circuits of your trailer that have LEDs. For a pair you would want the part # DI34ZR.

  • Troubleshooting LED Tail Lights Not Working on Trailer
The first thing you should do is trace the wiring from your tail lights to ensure there are no crimped, damaged or broken wires that are causing interference with the circuit. If you do that and find the wires are fine then I do recommend using Load Resistors # DI34ZR as this should allow the harness to "recognize" the low power draw from the LED lights # TLL9RK you purchased from us (thank you!)

  • How Much Voltage and Amps is the Roadmaster Heavy Duty Diode # RM-690 Rated For
The heavy duty diode # RM-690 is rated for up to 120 volts at 24 amps but for your application the circuit is only going to be pushing 12 volts through it. Since LED lights draw a fraction of the power of incandescent lights there should be no brightness issues. If for some reason the LED lights cannot draw enough power through the diode you may need to add load resistors # DI34ZR, in between the lights and the output side of the diode. This will create more load so full power can get...

  • BMW X5 Bulb Out Warning Still Happens Using Special Adapter C35FR for Trailers with LED Lights
If the adapter, # C35FR, is still causing the bulb out sensor when towing a trailer with LED lights then there is another option. You can install load resistors, # DI34ZR, on the trailer wiring. The load resistors will need to go on each circuit so you will need at least 3 for a 4-Way trailer connector for the basic lighting functions. These will provide more draw on the system and the vehicle will not think there is a bulb out. The other possibility is that there actually is a bulb out...

  • Turn Signals On 2019 Ford F-350 Flat Bed Still Flash with Load Resistors Installed
The two most common issues with resistors like part # DI34ZR are incorrect installation and the quick splice connectors not having enough contact with the circuit. I have attached for you below the correct wiring diagram for a load resistor but make sure you have the correct wires beforehand by testing with a circuit tester. The quick splice connectors included with most resistors are not of the best quality so I think you will have much better success with part # SWC501746-1. When installing...

  • Are Load Resistors Required When Installing Optronics LED Lights on Trailer
Most likely you will not need to add any load resistors when installing the Optronics ONE LED Combination Trailer Tail Light # STL0016RB on your trailer. This should be a simple swap to replace your existing incandescent assemblies with this longer-lasting and brighter LED unit. While most trailers can have their lights switched out for LED alternatives without missing a beat, there are cases where load resistors like # DI34ZR are needed but it's not something that can be accurately predicted...

  • Do Load Resistors Used on Turn Signal Circuit that Is Separate From Other Lights Get Hot
If the load resistor does not have power it will not generate any heat. They do get really hot in applications that stay on light headlights or fog lights but for a separate blinking circuit it wouldn't be active enough to get that hot. A lot of people are using load resistors to convert their headlights to LED which stay on for a long time which is why it's a very common topic.

  • How To Install The Curt Auxiliary LED Indicator Lights C53201 With Load Resistors DI34ZR
To wire the Load Resistor Kit for LED Turn Signals # DI34ZR into your vehicles turn signals you will need to find your turn signal wire for your vehicle. Once that wire is identified, take the one end of the wire and the turn signal wire and connect to the quick splice connector. Make this connection by crimping the wires together with a crimping tool like # PTW30764. From here you'll connect the other white wire and ground this wire to a good ground source. • Trailer LED Taillights Work On One Truck But Not the Other
David, since your Jeep just had the taillights replaced with LEDs I'd wager that is the issue since LEDs don't pull as much current as traditional lights, which may be sending the truck a false report because of that. Adding a load resistor kit # DI34ZR should fix the issue because it will increase the amperage of the circuit which will hopefully trick the truck into reading that the trailer is connected.

  • Are Resistors Needed for Hyperflashing LED Lights?
The reason your lights are hyperflashing is because LED lights only draw a fraction of the power that standard incandescent lights do and to fix it you'd need to use a resistor # DI34ZR. The only issue I can think of is that maybe your resistors are installed in the incorrect spot. When you install these, you're going to want to do is tap one end of the load resistor into the power wire and the other end will either ground to the trailer or the ground wire from the bulb as shown in the...

  • LED Tail Lights Added to Flat Bed Truck Hyper Flash with Flashers/Turn Signals On
What you are describing can happen on vehicles when LED lights are installed but there is an easy fix. The problem is that the low power draw of LED lights can make the vehicle computer think that there is a bulb out because there isn't enough power draw. So it will hyper flash or not work properly in some situations. The solution is to install load resistors, # DI34ZR, on any circuit that is affected. So the reverse lights will not have that problem because they draw constant power but...

  • Dim Taillights On Vehicle Troubleshooting After LED Conversion
Did you install load resistors on the circuits like the part # DI34ZR for each of the circuits that have a blinker on them? What you described sounds like bad grounds or bad wiring. A very dim LED typically means it is picking up a very tiny amount of voltage on the circuit. Typically you wouldn't see this illumination with an incandescent but since LEDs can light up with the smallest amount of voltage the problem usually appears with an LED conversion. Your best option is going to be...

  • Load Resistor Recommendation for a Vehicle with LED Lights and Hyperflashing
The hyperflashing you are experiencing is most likely related to the LED lights you have installed on your vehicle. • Recommended 4-Way Connector Add-On for LED Tail Light Strip on 2022 Ford Maverick
I recommend picking up the Curt T-Connector # C59DR which tees in behind the tail lights on your 2022 Ford Maverick but has a power lead you run to the battery so the 4-Way connector is pulling power straight from the battery as opposed to potentially overloading the OEM wiring circuits. This is a much safer option to splicing in connections because we aren't cutting into the factory wiring, the power is being pulled from the battery so the OEM circuits are unaffected, and the black module...

  • Installing Load Resistors on GMC Savana to Prevent Hyperflashing with New LED Lights
Installing some load resistors like the Diamond # DI34ZR to the circuits mentioned should resolve the hyperflashing you are getting with the new LEDs. When installing the resistors you want to make sure that you connect them in line with the turn signal circuit wire before the bulb and not after. • Troubleshooting LED Trailer Lights Staying on When Vehicle is Turned Off
It sounds like you have a bad ground on the left stop/turn circuit (probably the trailer light) and you're using LEDs on your trailer when your vehicle is only able to send power back for incandescent lights. If you locate the ground and/or bad connection and fix it then you should just need to use load resistors like part # DI34ZR which essentially amplifies the signal from the LED lights so your vehicle can read the lights better and know to shut off power to those circuits completely. The Triple Tail Light will likely not cause one side of your vehicle to look like a disco dance floor with strobe lights every time you turn - also known as hyperflashing - as fun as that may be to some people, though it is less likely if you are using these on a trailer. If the hyperflashing does occur there is a solution simply by using Load Resistors # DI34ZR which are designed specifically to stop that type of flashing.
