If your 2016 Coachmen Encounter RV has the Ford F-550 Chassis, then there will be a port located behind the vehicle's dashboard to which you can connect the brake controller adapter plug to. For the correct Plug-In Adapter, you will use # 3034-P. One end of the adapter will plug into the brake controller itself, and the other end will connect to the built-in port behind the dash.
You will want to locate the notch in the access panel in the center of the dash, near the passenger side. Carefully pry the panel out and undo the locking tabs to remove the panel. You will then find the necessary connector behind this portion of the dashboard.
For a trailer brake controller, I highly recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 # 90885. This is a great proportional controller that will activate your trailer's brakes at the same time and with the same intensity that you apply to them in your RV. It features a nice, easy-to-read display and continuous diagnostics that will alert you to any potential issues.
