Do all Underbed Gooseneck Hitches Simply Mount To The Frame And Not The Bed Of A 2011 Ford F-250?

Question:

Recently purchased a 2011 Ford F-250 with a goose neck hitch in the bed Flip Over model FO 33906. My question is....Are all goose neck hitches simply mounted to the outer frame members? Are there no bed attachment points for this style hitch???

Almost all gooseneck style hitches with an underbed mounting like you mention have no attachment point to the bed of the truck. They are mounted to the frame rails only. Some models have u-bolts that are spring loaded that require drilling into the bed so they look like attachment points when not in use, but they are not. Even a system like the Reese Elite Series Under-Bed Gooseneck Trailer Hitch for Ford Super Duty - 25,000 lbs # RP30138-26 that has the puck system doesn't technically attach to the bed. The trim rings are deceiving because they sit above the bed but don't hold the bed to the unit.
