5th Wheel Sliding Hitch Compatibility With Gooseneck Underbed Hitch

Question:

I currently have a flip-Over Ball brand under bed gooseneck system in my truck. It has a lever in the left rear wheel well that I flip to turn the ball over and lock it in place. Will the #9480 work with this system? I see it has a pin that goes through it underneath, where mine has the lever, but can I use this and just pin it instead of using the lever arrangement? I have a 40-foot 5th wheel toy hauler with one of your down adapters bolted to the pin box around the 5th wheel pin, that converts it to a gooseneck ball...Im not a great fan of the system as it is very difficult to hook up and requires absolute perfect alignment to onto the ball...Id really like to get a 5th wheel slider setup in my truck, but one I can just pull up instead of having to unbolt in order to use my bed. 2005 Ram 2500 Crew Cab Short Bed

With your current gooseneck hitch, you can use the Curt X5 5th Wheel Base Rails Adapter for Curt Double Lock Gooseneck Trailer Hitches - 20,000 lbs # C16210 that SHOULD be compatible with your gooseneck hitch. Based on all I can research it looks like it will fit, but I can't confirm it because I cannot test it. For your 5th wheel hitch, I recommend a sliding hitch like the Curt A20 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ R20 Slider - Dual Jaw - 20,000 lbs # C16541.

You may also want to consider using the Curt 5th Wheel/Gooseneck Custom Wiring Harness w/ 7-Pole Connector - 10' Long # C56001 to put a 7-way connection in the bed of your truck for easy accessibility.
