5th Wheel Trailer Rides too High at the Front with a 2016 Ram 2500/3500 4x4

Question:

How much higher is this adapter than the standard rails. I have a 2016 ram 4x4 and already am too high at the hitch with my curt 20k slider at the lowest setting.

When using the Curt adapter # C16022 to use a regular 5th wheel hitch in the OEM prep package of the 2016 Ram the adapter will sit up about as high as regular rails, though perhaps up to an inch taller but I do have a possible solution for you.

Since your hitch is already as low as it can go then the only other adjustment is on the 5th wheel trailer. You could raise the pin box on most 5th wheel trailers which will lower the front of the trailer.

And another option is to raise the rear of the trailer to help get the trailer level. If you do think raising the trailer in the back is the way to go then you may be able to use an over/under conversion kit if:

The trailer leaf spring stack is mounted under the axles
The trailer uses double-eye springs
And the trailer has 2-3/8 inch or 3 inch diameter round axles

For a 2-3/8 inch round axle use # K71-384-00 and for a 3 inch diameter axle use # K71-385-00.

If you cannot use an over/under conversion kit then the only other way to raise the height of the trailer is to have the old suspension hangers cut off and new, taller ones welded on by a qualified professional welder. I have included a link to the hanger main page for you.
