Installing a Brake Controller with 4 Wires in a 2007 Ford F-150
Question:
2007 Ford F150 factory wiring harness has 5 wires, the extra is green labelled stop lamp. My Reese Brakeman IV #8507111 only has wires, black, blue, white and red. How do I wire this? Thanks

Expert Reply:
Because your 2007 Ford F-150 has an extra wire, you will need to determine their function and match that with the 4 brake controller wires. You will need a circuit tester like # PTW2993 to probe the wires for function.
The four wires from your brake controller are:
Blue=brake controller output
Black= Battery In (+)
White= Ground (-)
Red=Stoplight
I've attached a photo and an article to help. The 5th wire is to add the center brake light to a truck bed cab.
