Thank you for purchasing this brake controller and the wiring adapter from us, and though I was unable to find your order number to know exactly what controller and adapter you purchased from us, I can tell you no additional fuse is needed on a 2005 Ford F-150 with the factory 7-way. I can offer you some troubleshooting tips that may be of use, which I'll proceed with.

What you will need to do is check your owner's manual to find where the fuse is for the brake output and ensure that is not blown. Also try tracing the power wire to find out where it is damaged and you can use Cordless Circuit Tester # PTW2979 for that.

I have also attached some help articles on testing and troubleshooting brake controllers for you to check out which I strongly recommend reading.
