Thank you for your email answering my questions on your axle. I have the information to help you with your tandem axle application.

Your current axle is not a standard size, so I recommend replacing your current axle as well. There are two routes to go for this, the more traditional style or the axle-less. For the Timbren Axle-Less Trailer Suspension System with Hubs - 5 on 4-1/2 - Regular Tires - 2,000 lbs, # A20RS545, you simply mount the axles square and the suspension is integrated. Just put on tires and go. You will need to make sure there is a cross-member to support the weight over this section.

The more traditional route is to use the Dexter Trailer Idler Axle w/ Hubs - EZ-Lube - 5 on 4-1/2 Bolt Pattern - 72" Long - 2,000 lbs, # 20545I-EZ-72-10 that will give you the dimension you need for your leaf springs, but will give you a slightly wider stance. You will also need the U-Bolt Kit for Mounting 2,000-lb, Round Trailer Axles - 4-1/4" Long U-Bolts, # APUBR-10. For your hangers, you will need to weld on the hanger kit, # APT9. For leaf springs I recommend the 3-Leaf Double-Eye Spring for 2,000-lb Trailer Axles - 20-3/8" Long, # e84SR. With this set-up, you will have to completely remove the current hangers and center the now two axles properly for the correct ride and tongue weight.

For tires, I recommend the Kenda Karrier ST145/R12 Radial Trailer Tire with 12" Black Mod Wheel - 5 on 4-1/2 - LR D, # AM35354. These radial tires will give you a smooth ride on the highway and will give you a load range of 1220 lbs at 65 psi each. You will still be limited by your axle capacity even though the tires will give you a higher rating per axle.

Let me know if you have any other questions.
