Upgrading the Tire and Wheel on a Harbor Freight Trailer

Question:

Hi I have the following trailer HAUL-MASTER 1720 Lb. Capacity 48 In. X 96 In. Super Duty Folding Trailer I would like to drive this at 65 mph. Or even possibly at 70 mph. Do I just need to change the tire to a higher rating? Can the trailer go faster speed if I just change the tire? Thanks

From what I could find, the Harbor Freight trailers do say not to exceed 45 miles per hour in the owners manual. That being said, the tires they use are not rated very high and may be the limiting factor.

The trailer you have looks to use a 5 on 4 1/2 bolt pattern and 12 inch wheels. I definitely suggest upgrading what you have to the Kenda Karrier S-Trail ST145/R12 # AM31199DX. This, as with all 12 inch tires, will be limited to 65 miles per hour, but this is also rated up to 1,220 pounds at 65 psi. The radial tire is also designed for highway use.
