What Parts are Needed to Install a Tekonsha Prodigy on a 2010 Toyota Tundra with Tow Package
Question:
I got a new 2010 tundra with tow package. It came with a connection cable for the braking system. It should be fully prewired, right? Is this for hooking up the controller? Got a tekonsha prodigy gift. it came with a cable too. Both cables have loose wires at one end. I'm guessing I wire them together? Haven't had time to watch the supplied video yet. Thank you for any help.

As long as the truck also has a 7-Way at the rear, you should not need any additional wiring components.
You will need a truck specific conector to attach the brake controller. I have not seen a package with two connectors that have loose wires. The connector for a 2010 Tundra is part # 3040-P. This connector plugs into the Prodigy with the black connector and into the truck with the white connector. You will also need to attach the loose white wire to a good grounding point. The wire Toyota uses for ground on the brake controller port is sometimes too thin to maintain a good ground.
If both of the pigtails you have have the same black connector, then Tekonsha simply put two of the hardwire harnesses in the box your controller came with.
