Should Two Sway Control Units Be Used For 27 Ft Forest River Trailer

Question:

I have a 27foot Forest River that I am pulling with a 2015 Silverado 1500. I am thinking about getting your Reese Friction Sway Control Kit - Economy - by Draw-Tite, to see if the sway will be reduced. Do you recommend two of these or should just one work OK? thanks

Helpful Expert Reply:

We recommend using two sway control units if your trailer is 26 ft long or longer, or if GTW is over 6,000 lbs.

The center of the ball on the ball plate included with the Reese Friction Sway Control Kit, part # 83660 is mounted 24 inches back on the trailer frame from the center of the ball socket on the coupler. I have attached a drawing that shows how sway control is typically mounted you can check out.
