Hitch and Weight Distribution System Recommendation for 2004 Dodge Ram Towing 14k Trailer

Question:

2004.5 Dodge Ram pickup. 5.9l Cummins. With factory hitch. Quad cab, short bed. Bandw goose neck hitch already installed. What bumper hitch do u recommend I upgrade too? I have a 14,000lb bumper pull toy hauler/camper I tow. It has a heavy tongue weight. Probably 1500lb or more. I currently use a 10,000lb weight distribution hitch to pull this trailer with single sway bar attachment. I believe Im probably exceeding the hitch rating and the weight distribution hitch as well. The trailer has some sway issues fully loaded but its not too bad. What hitch upgrade would u recommend and what weight distribution/sway bar system would u suggest? I saw a curt on here that keeps the 2inch factory system. Never knew they had such a system. Seems odd to have 2 receivers back there. Can u upgrade to a larger one and have an adapter down to 2? My current setup is in great condition and. No rust. Low mileage truck. Thank you

For your 2004 Dodge Ram 2500/3500 with a factory hitch you would want the Curt Hitch part # C15809 as it has plenty of capacity for your 14k trailer at 20k trailer rating and 2,700 tongue weight.

For your trailer with a 1,500 lb tongue weight capacity you would want the Strait Line Weight Distribution System part # RP66075 that has a tongue weight range of 1,000-1,700 lbs. You will also need a shank like part # RP54977.
