Class V, 2-1/2 Inch Trailer Hitch and Long Extension to Clear In-Bed Camper in a 2006 Dodge Ram 2500

have 2006 dodge shortbed 2500. will be adding camper which will extend about 34 to 36 inches past tailgate. tongue weight on trailer is approx. 500 to 600 lbs, towing weight is approx. 5,000 lbs. will a titan 21/2 hitch and a 34inch extender be sufficient?

If you were to use an extension such as # C45048 with Curt trailer hitch # C15809 on your 2006 Dodge Ram 2500 then it would be limited to 4,500 pounds at the 34 inch length. But at the 24 inch length it is rated for 6,000 pounds and a standard length ball mount would provide additional extension to clear the in-bed camper.

I spoke with my contact at TorkLift who said that if you have the rear Tie-Downs #TLR3500 then you could potentially use the tie-downs if the aftermarket trailer hitch has room for the 4" x 4" footprint on the side plate for the tie-down.…
