Can a Brake Controller be Installed on a 2008 Toyota Highlander Hybrid

Question:

I have a 2008 Highlander Hybrid and was wondering if you have any experience with this vehicle. In particular there are four wires that go to the brake switch and I am concerned that with the hybrid system that it may not be a simple switch.

The brake controllers and methods for installation do include hybrid models of the 2008 Toyota Highlander. All you will need to do at the brake switch is use a circuit tester such as # PTW2993 to test the wires until you find the one that only has power when the brake pedal is pressed and not at any other time (such as with the headlights or turn signals on). It is likely a blue/gray wire.

You will also need to install a 4-Way trailer connector unless the vehicle already has one. If you do need one, then use # 118449 if your Highlander does NOT have the factory tow package or # 56042 if it does have the factory tow package.

Then you will need installation kit # ETBC7 to add the 7-Way. I have included some links that show and explain the ETBC7 installation for you. For a brake controller I recommend the P2 # 90885 because it is easy to set up and use and it is reliable.
