You could install the Pollak 7-Pole and 4-Pole Trailer Connector Sockets w/ Mounting Bracket and Wiring # HM40975-11998 on your 2008 Toyota Highlander with the 4-Way, # 118449 already installed.

You would have to cut off the 4-Way plug on the 118449. Then the white wires would connect to each other, the 4-Way brown wire would connect to the 7-Way brown wire. The 4-Way yellow wire would connect to the 7-Way red wire. And the 4-Way green wire would connect to the 7-Way green wire.

On the 7-Way harness, the blue wire is for electric trailer brakes, black is for 12 volt power, and yellow is for reverse lights. To make all of these fully functional you would need additional wire and parts.

Instead of this 7-Way I recommend the 4 and 7-Way installation kit # ETBC7. It comes with a 7-Way that you will just plug your existing 4-Way into. It also comes with the extra wire and accessories to wire up the other functions.

If you need a brake controller I recommend the P2, # 90885. This is one of our most popular controllers because it is easy to set up and use and its reliable. I have included some links that show and explain the ETBC7 installation.
