Replacement Trailer Connector for 2007 Dodge Ram Cab and Chassis and How to Wire in Camper Lights
Question:
The above truck and flatbed worked fine until I bought a camper and the camper pigtail was wired directly into the OEM harness. The TIPM fried, I replaced it and truck runs again but I have not plugged the camper in yet or turned on the flatbed / camper running lights. Need advise to properly wire this combo so the that I dont lose another TIPM, I would also like to replace what appears to be the OEM harness that was spliced into, Thanks for any help you can provide.

First, if your 2007 Dodge Ram cab and chassis model came with a factory installed 4/7-Way then you can use # HM40975-11933 to replace it. It plugs into the factory wiring harness under the truck.
What I would do is to wire the camper light wires to either a trailer side 4-Way or 7-Way connector, depending on what all functions are needed, and plug that into the trucks trailer connector instead of hardwiring it in.
For a 4-Way you can use # HM48110. White is ground, brow is running lights, yellow is left turn/brake lights and green is right turn/brake lights.
For a 7-Way you can use # H20042. On it the white is ground, red is left turn/brake lights, brown is right turn/brake lights, green is running lights, blue is for electric trailer brakes, black is for the 12 volt power circuit, and yellow is either reverse lights or auxiliary power.
Wire either connector up to the wires on the camper and plug it into the new receptacle on the truck and you will be good to go. The camper would be connected to the tow package wiring this way and should there be a short it should blow tow package fuses instead of overloading the TIPM.
