What Circuit Should the Red Wire of the RM-732 Get Run To

Question:

I just received my Roadmaster 732, 3-2 wire converter-Regarding attaching the wire to the brake on the truck - is that the blue wire for the trailer brakes? Or do I find one of the wires that goes to the tail brake light? 2001 Chev 3500 thanks

The blue wire that runs to the trailer brakes would not be the stop light circuit to use for wiring up the Roadmaster Converter part # RM-732 that you have. You will need to find a circuit that carries just the brake lights. I am assuming that since you bought this converter your tow vehicle has separate brake lights from turn signals so you would just need to test the wires going into your taillight assemblies for the circuit that just carries the stoplight signal.

If your 2001 Chevy 3500 has a 7-way wiring harness at the rear of the vehicle then it already has the taillight circuits combined and the # RM-732 would not be needed since this converter is designed to go from a separate circuit to a combined circuit. If you are looking for a converter to go the opposite direction you would instead want the part # 118158.
