Turn Signals Blink Together on Subaru Impreza Towed Behind a Motor Home
Question:
Hi, I have a class A Motor Home pulling a Subaru Impressa. Everything has worked fine for 5yrs. This year I blew 2 fuses 15amp turn sig only 4 way worked fine as I used them until I was able to get parked. Hooking up a jumper with flasher inline on car works fine, four diodes in place. I cleaned ground leads to frame of MH. when car is pluged in right sig works fine but left flashes both RandL. Suspect 3 to 2 wire converter mounted on motorhome. Any thoughts would be very welcome. thanks

You can test the converter on the motor home using a circuit tester such as # PTW2993 or a meter if you have one. I have included a link to a video on the testing procedure.
It could also be that corrosion or moisture has built up in the motor home or vehicle connector (or both). Make sure each is clean and free of corrosion inside where the wires attach and outside. Also check the ground locations for corrosion.
Should the converter on the motor home be the culprit you can replace it with # 119178KIT. If everything on the motor home is working fine and the signals are correct at the front of the Impreza then the issue would be on the Impreza. If you could tell me the year I could recommend a different tow bar wiring system.
