Trailer Wiring and Hitch Recommendation for a 2000 Chevy Silverado 1500HD
Question:
Hi guys i just bought a new truck its a 2000 chevy silverado 1500hd it has the trailer package because i saw that it had a separate wiring coming from the trucks wirring and reaches close to the bumper Im looking for instructions and and light wiring kit and a trailer box controller and wiring kit to plug into the truck and a trailer hitch class3 or 4 thanks

For trailer wiring the # HM40975 that you referenced would be the correct part to get since it sounds like you have correct harness behind your bumper. This will plug right into it. The harness should have a round connector at the end of it that will look like it will plug into the connector in the pic I attached.
For a hitch I would recommend the Curt Hitch part # C14332. This is a Class IV hitch with plenty of capacity.
For ball mounts I would recommend the Ball Mount Kit part # EBMK2416. This comes with a ball mount with a 3 inch drop and 2 inch hitch ball and a 2-5/16 inch hitch ball.
For a brake controller I would recommend the Prodigy P2 Brake Controller part # 90885. This is our best selling brake controller because of how well it works and how easy it is to setup. All you would need to do to install this controller is the correct harness part # 3025-P and make a couple underhood connections. See install video to the right.
