Recommended Rhino Rack Roof Rack for 2014 Subaru XV Crosstrek
Question:
Im looking at the rhino rack system for a 2014 Subaru crosstrek. I want to buy the legs and aero bars, there are several product numbers for the legs and I cant tell what the difference is rrsx018, I think is what I need? Also, there are some bad reviews here on the rhino system, especially concerned about the noise, is that generally dependent on the installation?

Rhino Rack offers a reasonably priced Aero-style bar system for the roof of your Crosstrek. Assuming your Crosstrek has the rails that run from front to back along the edge of the roof, you'd need the # RRSX100 roof rack feet and crossbars # RRVA118B-2.
Anytime a roof accessory is added to a vehicle, there will be a certain amount of noise caused by the wind hitting the crossbars. This is typically worse with the square crossbars, but with aero bars like those from Rhino Rack and Thule, the noise would be reduced. The design of the vehicle itself can also have a bearing on the amount of noise you'll experience. It's very important that the rubber strips that cover the channel on top and on the underside of the crossbars cover every gap and hole. If the rack is correctly installed, it shouldn't be terribly noisy.
Rhino Rack is a lower-cost alternative to a Thule roof rack, but quality-wise is still a great rack.
