Today we're going to review part #yr18244-165ec. This is a Yates keel roller for boat trailers. This keel roller is constructed of a heavy duty rubber. Does have the heavy duty nylon bushings on both ends. This keel roller is designed to replace one of the keel rollers on your boat trailer. The keel roller will ease the loading and unloading of the boat and it will support the bottom of the boat as it sits on the trailer.
It will also help to absorb any road shock while the boats being towed. This product is made in the USA. We're going to do a couple dimensions for you. The overall length of this roller is 17 3/4 inches long and the diameter, its 3 3/4 inches diameter. This keel roller is designed to fit on an 18 inch wide bracket with a 5/8 inch diameter shaft.

What happened to George who wrote me about this about a year ago. Anyway you will figure it out.
This has been a slow project because I am an old retired guy living on a surfing beach way down in Mexico. I brought all the parts from you down in my truck about two years ago. All the parts came from you and the steel and paint I bought here in Mexico. I built the trailer in my shop here and had to modify it several times to fit the strange requirements we have for launching off the beach with waves. I never seem to remember to take the camera or my phone to the beach to show that procedure but it is a little involved compared to a tilt trailer on a boat ramp. If I back the trailer into the water the wave action washes the sand out from under the trailer tires and the quad tires and them I am stuck. I have to launch in the hard sand just inland from the waves and parallel to them. The trailer can only tilt until the rear cross member is just above the sand or I cannot pull the trailer out from under the boat with the 500 lb. Honda 4WD quad. We put pieces of 2 inch black irrigation plastic tubing about 6 feet long under the boat as it is coming down off of the trailer as it is pulled out. This gives us old guys the chance to push the boat 90 degrees until it faces the waves. We wait for some larger waves to roll up under the boat and then we push it into the water and away we go when we find a lull in the incoming waves. We use the boat to get to surfing spots and then fish on the way home. The trailer pictures I am sending are showing the tilt stop that is not quite in use as I am just running the engine in my drive way. The fat little tires are for the sand.
If this project is of interest to you I have some pictures showing the construction of the trailer that better show some of your hardware. I will also try to remember the camera the next time we launch. Our waves are bigger in the summer time so we will have to wait for a small surf day to play with the boat.
Everything that happens here in Mexico is slow and there was some spine surgery that also slowed things down a bit. But a year later I am still surfing and playing with the boat.

The white insert popped out as soon as it had pressure on it. Even with washers Not good.
The roller arrived just fine. BUT I HAVE NOT RECEIVED THE accompanying 19" shaft. I don't know why they wouldn't be shipped together. When may I expect delivery of the shaft??

I needed a replacement roller for my boat trailer and came across the Yates 18"roller
online at etrailer.com. The quality was good according to the information on their website and the price was reasonable. So, I installed it using a Moeller 19"L X 5/8 dia galvanized shaft, 2- 5/8" spacer washers to eliminate side to side play and 2- 5/8 end caps. I works great! Thank you etrailer.
Outstanding product and value. Used on a whitewater raft trailer where these two rollers allow for uploading and loading the raft in remote locations.

The roller works well with the 19 inch shafts. I purchased 3 rollers and they were as advertised, arriving in good condition and ahead of schedule. What was especially great about etrailer.com, however, was the level of service I received from the staff. They shipped the order early, and sent it with a faster delivery than I had paid for, and then they followed up to make sure I was happy with the order. I expect this level of service from the brick and mortar stores I do business with, and it is great to see that level of service carried forward onto the internet. This particular keel roller is 17 - 18 inches long. I could not find the roller in different marinas close to my lake cottage and it was not offered with many companies on the internet. Cost of roller and shipping was reasonable. I received my order in 5 days.

has plastic bearings on ends so center is not supported by shaft, if i was using to support keel on heavy boat that might be a concern
